luser977I just love netbsd's no nonsense approach. https://www.netbsd.org/docs/guide/en/chap-bluetooth.html00:11

luser977 /done ot00:11
luser977zzz00:11
Wafficushey there, I'm trying to add 'carla' to Devuan via the 'kxstudio' repository. I added it via the related .deb instructions on their site, yet I don't see 'carla' show up under /lib/vst01:11
Wafficushttps://kx.studio/Repositories01:11
gnarfaceWafficus: did you run "apt-get update" afterwards?01:12
gnarfaceWafficus: you probably need to specify -t01:12
Wafficusah yes, I didn't do an update, good reminder01:14
Wafficusthanks for this01:14
Wafficustrying that now01:14
Wafficusahah, yep that did it, now I can find 'carla'01:14
Wafficusthanks gnarface :)01:15
n4dirWafficus: just in case you ever search for something https://librazik.tuxfamily.org/doc3/paquets01:19
no_9hello everyone :)04:59
no_9the netinstall iso will allow me to install a full system later, yes?04:59
no_9almost 260 people in here 8D --devuan has moved up! used to be only 20-30 here05:02
rrqall isos let you install "a full system later" .. netinstall will require network for that, the other (server+cd[234] and dvd) have package pools on them05:04
fluffywolfthey're still all idle, though.  :P05:05
rrqthe mirrors are busy mirroring05:05
rrqthey use 90% of the bandwidth05:05
no_9does the netinst have any wifi support at all?05:06
rrqyes it has all non-free packages05:07
no_9great--i think it only takes 2 packages to support my ancient RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n  anyway05:09
no_9and i have an even older zydas usb wifi stick05:09
Xenguyno_9: I always use netinstall cos it's a nice minimal install that can be customized to your heart's content05:32
fluffywolfI use netinst because I pay $50 per 7GB and I don't want to download a single package I don't need.05:33
XenguyMinimalism FTW : -)05:34
no_9SI herr Xenguy, choo are mooooost wiiissseee05:40
no_9less to break and what there is aint fake05:40
Xenguyheheh05:44
rrqmmm it was produced using both fakechroot and fakeroot ;)05:48
XenguyTell me there's no fake news05:49
rrqlooks like there's only one mirror left .. now web downloads should improve05:52
rrqand downloading from (some) mirrors is now even faster06:09

gourany hint how to update grub to generate gui theme instead of 'default' ncurses one?10:21
fsmithredgour, did you look in /etc/default/grub to find a theme line?10:22
fsmithredit'll be at the end10:22
gourfsmithred: there is none, but same thing on debian (desktop) machine and grub does boot in gui?10:23
fsmithredapt reinstall desktop-base && update-grub10:24
fsmithredhow does debian do it?10:24
fsmithreddo they put the theme files in /boot/grub?10:24
gourno, there is line: if background_image /usr/share/desktop/base/... which loads png10:26
gourthanks. re-installing desktop-base did it :-)10:29
gouri'm on ceres, replaced slim with lightdm, installed nm instead of wicd - some cosmetic changes to make machine more friendly to other family members :-)10:30
jiefk[m]Hello all ! Is there some quircks with the new radicale package (3.0.6) on Chimaera ? postinstall fails, servica radicale start does not start (no more info ?), and for what is worth, postrm fails too when trying to uninstall...10:57
jiefk[m]Only starting radicale manually works (radicale -D -C config.file.cfg10:58
fsmithredjiefk[m], does /etc/init.d/radicale exist?11:05
stovepipei'm trying backports for the first time, should i just let it update what it wants11:09
fsmithredstovepipe, you should be selective with backports11:10
fsmithredthe packages in backports have never all been tested together11:10
stovepipeyeah but it needs some parts right11:10
fsmithredyeah11:10
stovepipemy m ain purpose is the newer kernel to test something11:10
stovepipei dont mind being a bit bleeding edge11:11
stovepipei can handle all that, just my first time :)11:11
fsmithredoh, just install bpo kernel and let it pull in what it needs11:11
stovepipebase-files dbus dbus-x11 eudev init init-system-helpers libdbus-1-3 libdbus-1-dev libeudev-dev libeudev111:11
stovepipethe one that says "unsigned"?11:11
stovepipeshould i not let it install that list of stuff11:11
fsmithredthose might be regular beowulf updates11:11
stovepipeyeah true heh11:12
stovepipei dont use this one much11:12
fsmithredwhat shows if you 'apt -s upgrade'?11:12
fsmithredthe -s is simulate11:12
stovepipei should have done that first11:12
fsmithredsome of the packages you listed were moved from beowulf-proposed-updates to beowulf a couple days ago11:14
stovepiperoger i just did all those without backports now11:15
stovepipeand rebooted11:15
fsmithredsigned/unsigned is related to secure boot11:16
fsmithreduefi M$ stuff11:16
stovepipeok i see it my eyes are fuzzy11:17
stovepipewait no thats headers11:17
stovepipethey all say unsigned, right11:17
stovepipelinux-image-5.10.0-0.bpo.3-amd64-unsigned11:18
stovepipeoh, linux-image-5.9.0-0.bpo.5-amd6411:20
stovepipenot one of those for 5.1011:20
stovepipethat'll do11:21
stovepipefsmithred: is it supposed to be like that or is it just new or something11:24
stovepipetheres only -dbg and -unsigned for 5.1011:24
fsmithredI don't know11:24
gouri've used the following integration between isync & mu4e (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Isync#Integration_with_notmuch_or_mu4e) and wonder how to do it without systemd (besides cron job)?11:25
fsmithredmaybe they don't bother with the signed kernel for backports11:25
stovepipethere is for 5.911:25
stovepipelinux-image-5.9.0-0.bpo.5-amd6411:25
stovepipeall 311:25
stovepipemaybe it just hasnt happened yet11:26
fsmithredcould be11:26
stovepipeanyhoo11:26
fsmithredbpo kernels don't get a lot of love11:26
stovepipeneat11:26
stovepipei'll be playing with ryzen vega video11:27
fsmithredah11:27
stovepipeworks on default kernel, it needs 4.17 or higher11:27
stovepipebut i know the speed jumped quite a bit on freebsd when it switched to 5 kernel drm11:27
stovepipebut theres something wrong11:28
stovepipei need to know its not my machine heh11:28
stovepipefunny also like the old days with a windows dual boot for games, now i have a linux dual boot for games11:28
stovepipetriple boot...11:29
stovepipeworked, now glmark211:34
stovepipehrm, still performs the same as before, not what i expected11:42
stovepipewhat am i missing11:45
stovepipeor is it the xorg parts too11:45
stovepipei went through the amdgpu-pro install from amd about a year ago and it also had no effect11:53
jiefk[m]fsmithred: yes, radicale exists there !13:22
fsmithredjiefk[m], did you check /etc/default/radicale?13:23
fsmithredmight be a switch there13:23
fsmithredcan you start/stop it by running /etc/init.d/radicale start|stop?13:24
ham5urgI have a problem with my AMD GPU 01:00.0, Radeon RX550. After suspend and resuming the machine, it hangs and is not coming back. Inside the boot log I find the message that no firmware is found. At debian I find a package called firmware-amd-graphics. Is this package mandatory for such GPU? I believed that with module AMDGPU the need for blobs has vanished, am I wrong?13:53
systemdleteCan I upgrade to 3.1 by simply update/upgrade?14:10
xinomiloyes, it's just packages in the same release (beowulf)14:15
onefangIf you are up to date with your apt updates, you already have Beowulf 3.1.14:20
systemdletesuper thanks.14:22
systemdleteanother question.  I am using luks on a system where space is down to 88 bytes free.  However, the "physical" disk (this is actually a VM) has over a gb available.14:23
systemdleteI see some articles on how to fix this, but those are a few years old now.  I am wondering if there is a simple way to do it now.14:23
systemdleteand there is no lvm on this system14:24
xinomiloso you want to grow luks partition to fill available space?14:27
systemdleteYes.14:28
systemdleteOr at least extend the space14:28
xinomilobooting from gparted live cd perhaps..14:28
systemdleteyeah14:28
xinomiloused this last time : https://libguestfs.org/virt-resize.1.html14:28
systemdletethat seems to be the thinking in most of the posts I am seeing14:29
xinomilokeep an image backup beforehand14:29
systemdletethis is vbox, not kvm14:29
systemdlete(sorry, I should have told you that)14:29
systemdletebut I think using gparted should be fine.14:29
systemdleteprobably the quickest and easiest option.14:30
xinomiloyou could qemu-convert it.. but yes, try gparted first14:30
systemdletethanks xinomilo, thanks onefang14:30
xinomilobackup first, gparted 2nd :)14:30
systemdletethe partition layout looks like 1G encrypted, 1G swap, 6G root fs = total 8gb14:38
systemdletegparted won't let me do anything!14:39
systemdleteI don't have much on the system yet, but thanks for the backup reminder.  I'll add it to my backups from here on forward.14:39
fsmithredpvresize?14:40
systemdletebtw, it's an ext4 fs.14:40
systemdletefsmithred:  No lvm on this one.14:40
fsmithredoh14:40
systemdletesadly, I chose not to do it that way on this particular VM.14:41
systemdletewould make life easier...14:41
systemdleteI could just re-install the whole shebang14:41
systemdleteI have some template VMs for cloning.14:41
fsmithredmake a bigger vm and rsync everything over to it14:41
systemdleteThose are set up right.14:41
systemdletenot necessary to do all that.  I was just saying I have little on the system so far.14:42
systemdleteI don't get why gparted is being a butt about this.  Usually it "just works"14:42
fsmithredIMO resizing is for the birds14:42
fsmithredencrypted?14:42
systemdleteyes14:42
systemdletethe partition layout looks like 1G encrypted, 1G swap, 6G root fs = total 8gb14:42
fsmithredI didn't think gparted could do that14:43
systemdleteoh...14:43
systemdletethat would explain it14:43
fsmithredcryptsetup resize14:43
fsmithredI've never done it, but it's in the man page14:44
systemdleteok, will try that.  thanks14:44
fsmithredupi14:45
fsmithredyou probably need to shrink swap or root to make the space14:47
jiefk[m]fsmithred: re:Radicale Yes, I checked also this file. I also exec update-rc.d command15:10
fsmithredand all the symlinks are in place?15:10
xinomilocryptsetup doesn't care about partition size, iirc15:21
xinomiloyou have to resize all partitions to enlarge the one encrypted15:22
xinomiloshrink the last one, move the 2nd , grow first encrypted..15:23
xinomilohaven't done it in a while, just a proposal..15:23
jiefk[m]Yes I suppose that... For sure, manually running `service radicale start` does not start the service. exit code $? is 015:41
fsmithredjiefk[m], I just installed radicale and it is turned off in all runlevels15:49
fsmithredadded 'set -x' to the init script and it fails on the start-stop-daemon commands in do_start()15:49
kreyren1Howddya extract freearc archive on devuan15:50
kreyren1x.x15:50
fsmithredrunning the first one (the one with --test) returns 0 if I run it on command line, but returns 1 when runs in the script15:50
fsmithredkreyren1, same way as on debian?15:50
kreyren1<fsmithred "kreyren, same way as on debian?"> i dunno how to do that on debian i ain't using that systemd garbage~15:51
fsmithredjust suggesting that google probably has a quick answer if you ask the question right (i.e. ask about debian)15:52
kreyren1<fsmithred "just suggesting that google prob"> did, it didn't15:52

jiefk[m]fsmithred: thanks for the tip, it did the trick !16:55
fsmithredmight be worth filing a bug report with debian16:55
jiefk[m]The reinstall did not go well... postinstall failed. I still can start the server manually. Will do for the time being :) Thanks for your help fsmithred :)17:00
fsmithredI could not get it to start17:02
jiefk[m]fsmithred: I'm glad in a sense, at least I did not break my system :p17:17
luser977re: bluez-tools: it's a monument of breakage related to BlueZ 5, 4 was apparently more usable.22:36
