tuxd3vhello all,00:56
tuxd3vShouldn't be possible to get the source code for: libnewt-dev00:56
tuxd3v?00:56
tuxd3vcan't find this package source code :s00:57
tuxd3vin Chimaera00:57
fsmithredtuxd3v, apt-get source newt01:03
fsmithredit works in amd6401:03
fsmithredchimaera01:03
tuxd3vI don't really know if the code is the same on both :(01:04
tuxd3vthanks01:04
fsmithredwhen I had ceres deb-src line enabled, I could apt-get source libnewt-dev01:04
fsmithredand it pulled down the same source for newt01:04
tuxd3vI am getting a:undefined symbol: newtListbox01:05
tuxd3vmaybe the diference between packages is that, libnewt-dev also has headers, and a static library .a01:06
fsmithredit should be at salsa.debian.org if you want to see the git01:06
tuxd3vhumm very good idea :)01:06
systemdleteOne of my VMs had a btrfs file system go readonly (by itself somehow).  I took the machine down and ran "check" but it claimed it could not find a valid btrfs file system on it.   Strangely, it seems to be fine and I'm using it from right here with hexchat (home is on the btrfs fs)04:09
systemdletedmesg, before the reboot and check, showed a lot of hard disk errors.  But that can't be true since the btrfs is sitting on a virtual disk!   I also checked on the host, but there were no messages at that time indicating a problem with hard disk.04:10
systemdleteI did add the nodatacow option to the btrfs on the host.  I figure having vbox doing cow on top of a fs that is doing cow itself might have been messing things up.04:12
systemdlete(I also ran a recursive chattr +C on all of that host btrfs' files and directories)04:12
systemdleteI will wait to see if the VM's /home file system (btrfs) turns readonly again.04:13
TenkawaI only run btrfs on my arm machines and so far so good04:16
systemdleteTenkawa: So you suspect it does not work on other platforms like AMD?04:22
systemdlete(my systems are all AMD Athlon and FX)04:23
Tenkawano no.. I am just saying I like btrfs04:26
Tenkawaonly experience I have though is non-x8604:27
gnarfacesystemdlete: is it using kernel 5.12?  there was a disk corruption associated with 5.12-something and swap files...04:37
systemdleteVM is 4.19.0-14-amd64.   Host is same.04:38
gnarfaceno idea04:39
Tenkawagnarface: the infamous -donotuse?04:39
gnarfacemaybe a issue with the versions of the tools, dunno04:39
gnarfacei don't use btrfs04:39
TenkawaI've got 3 out of my 4 rpi4's are onn btrfs right now04:41
Tenkawathe 4th running one is on ext4 and a 5th one is shutdown04:41
gnarfacesystemdlete: is it possible you used a vastly different version of the tools on it after creation than the version that created the initial disk image?04:53
systemdletegnarface:  Not sure.  It is quite possible that there was an upgrade sometime after creating the btr fs.  How different it might have been I'd have to guess.  But I will investigate -- which toolset would I be looking for, just the btrfstools package or others?16:07
systemdlete(and thanks for the response)16:07
tuxd3vfsmithred, I tested salsa master version of newt 0.52.21: https://salsa.debian.org/mckinstry/newt17:17
tuxd3vAnd I was able to use even the examples, like whiptail, test, etc, the 'test' example as a 'newtListbox' in it, and it worked out of the box.. so defenitly something changed between 0.52.19 and 0.52.21.. I need to fireup 'beowulf' image again, and see what diferences exist there, for not leting me use listbox's in Lua newt Bindings.. maybe the bindings need adjustment too17:20
VulcanRidrHowdy folks. Got a question. Is there a way to get a newer version of firefox than the ESR in the repos that will work on Devuan? I have a problem in that I have multiple freenas' at work and since I upgraded to Beowulf from ASCII, I can't get a login screen. I'm not sure if it is because html5 or what.18:30
gnarfacesystemdlete: i would assume just btrfs-progs or btrfstools or whatever it's actually called21:54
gnarfaceVulcanRidr: well, nothing is stopping you from installing firefox from their website other than the lack of debian package managment integration and the long-term support crisis that might cause during your next release upgrade....  i'm not seeing it in backports though so it looks like you'd have to backport it yourself (and probably Rust and all the dependencies thereof, recursively, which is why people probably don't21:57
gnarfacedo this.....)21:57
gnarfaceVulcanRidr: another option if you don't want to make a mess of your main install but you have bandwidth and disk space to spare, is to debootstrap devuan chimera or ceres into a chroot and just run the chimera or ceres version of firefox out of the chroot21:57
gnarfacesystemdlete: i just had a thought - any chance you used backports on that guest in the past?21:58
VulcanRidrgnarface: Interesting. That might not be a bad idea. (the latter, that is.)22:24
