AlexLikeRockgpasswd -a  user storage01:24
AlexLikeRock gpasswd: group "storage" does not exist in /etc/group01:24
AlexLikeRockhow to create ?01:24
debdoghave a look at "man addgroup"01:30
debdog(TBH I never remember which one is 'recommended', addgroup or groupadd01:31
debdog)01:31
rwpDebian prefers "adduser" and "addgroup".01:32
rwpThe RHEL side of the family tree tends to use useradd and usermod and those.  Sigh.01:33
AlexLikeRockwhat  UID ???01:33
AlexLikeRockcreate to SSTORAGE ?01:33
rwpIs it meant to be a system group?  I suggest "adduser --system storage" to create that group with the next GID.01:34
debdogUID=0 usually root01:34
rwpDo that on the command line.  I am guessing that "gpasswd" is graphical?  I don't know how to graphically create users or groups.01:34
debdogUID=1000 and up are users01:34
AlexLikeRockok01:34
rwp0 is the only truly special number, as that is the superuser id number, and all of the rest are simply organizational.01:35
rwpAnd then after creating the storage group to add foouser to that "adduser foouser storage" will add that user to that group.01:36
rwpAnd just like that they are gone.  Maybe it was something I said?  :-/01:37
debdognah. just things going haywire after messing up UIDs01:39
AlexLikeRocki got problemns with  http://deb.devuan.org/01:54

onefangdeb.devuan.org is a DNS round robin.  It's entirely possible the server behind the IP you got that time was having issues.  Try again later.02:01
onefanghttps://sledjhamr.org/apt-panopticon/results/Report-web.html can be helpful.02:01

u-amarsh04had a scary time today: after upgrading llvm-15 packages, lxdm wouldn't restart unless I dropped down to single user mode.11:05
u-amarsh04upgrading libglib packages fixed the issue11:05
sokanhow can I check the partition scheme of my disk? I can't see parted or fdisk20:00
hagbardYou can install parted or fdisk, if it's missing. If you want something with GUI, use gparted.20:03
fsmithredsokan, use 'su -' instead of just 'su' to get root. Then the sbins will be in root's path.20:10
sokanfsmithred: aaaah ok20:10
sokanclean shell environment20:10
fsmithredecho $PATH20:14
sokanand for installation of new packages etc, apt-get install?20:22
jyrihello everyone, I have been playing around on trying to get Chimaera arm64 running on libvir running on MacOS, has anyone had any success with it?21:12
jyrithe problem is that the live-CD doesn't boot (devuan_chimaera_4.0.2_amd64_minimal-live.iso), checksum is ok and an Ubuntu 20.04 arm64 boots just fine21:13
jyriI just get dropped directly to the UEFI Shell and it doesn't matter what I try21:14
jyrimaybe it's just that the Mac will not emulate amd64 :(21:17
fsmithredjyri, amd64 is not arm6421:41
fsmithredsorry, I don't know what should or shouldn't work in that case.21:43
jyriyeah, I have seen that people have managed to get some amd64 containers running on the M1 arm64 processor but I have played around couple of nights with it and can't get it working21:53
jyriI'll try with the unofficial arm64 images now21:57
fsmithredjyri, there is a #devuan-arm channel23:25
