ballsxd | hi guys | 17:44 |
ballsxd | how can i assign a release file to a repository? | 17:45 |
gnarface | tom[m]12: no but you might have to set permissions (i didn't look at the paste though, use paste.debian.net or just /msg it to me if you want me to see it) | 17:49 |
gnarface | ballsxd: are you trying to set up a private repository? | 17:49 |
ballsxd | no im trying to add the security updates repo on the stable release | 17:50 |
gnarface | by stable release you mean chimaera? | 17:51 |
ballsxd | yes | 17:51 |
gnarface | ballsxd: does your /etc/apt/sources.list look like this? https://paste.debian.net/1284379/ | 17:53 |
tom[m]12 | gnarface: Hello. Thanks for the answer . Did as you asked. Can you tell me what this error means and why it occurs? Sometimes after this error on the screen everything starts to move and switch without my participation. Is this error related to BIOS or Grub? | 17:54 |
tom[m]12 | https://paste.debian.net/1284376/ | 17:54 |
ballsxd | kind of gnarface, i had forgotten to add the relase codename. | 17:55 |
gnarface | tom[m]12: very strange, i have not seen this. i'm sorry i don't know what's causing it, but are you sure the mouse is okay? | 17:56 |
ballsxd | but for the 3 default repo's i only have "deb -repo name" but not deb-src. should i add them? | 17:56 |
gnarface | tom[m]12: stick around, maybe someone else has seen this | 17:56 |
gnarface | ballsxd: it's up to you, you only need the deb-src ones if you're gonna be rebuilding packages | 17:56 |
ballsxd | what even is the difference between deb and deb-src? | 17:57 |
gnarface | deb is for binary packages and deb-src is for source packages | 17:58 |
gnarface | you use source packages to build the binary packages | 17:58 |
gnarface | the binary packages are the ones you actually run | 17:58 |
ballsxd | so the source packages will need to be compiled first? | 17:58 |
gnarface | yes, they only have source | 17:58 |
ballsxd | okay makes sense | 17:59 |
ballsxd | thanks dude | 17:59 |
gnarface | no problem | 17:59 |
rwp | tom[m]12, How are you running qemu to run the VM? Though I think you will need to go to #qemu or #virt in order to get help there at how to attach a mouse to the VM. | 18:14 |
rwp | tom[m]12, I'll just note that Devuan works okay for me using a libvirt created VM. But of course libvirt's command line for qemu is about 10 miles long with zillions of options. But I would guess that the problem is in the qemu invocation of the VM. | 18:16 |
tom[m]12 | <rwp> "tom, How are you running qemu to..." <- Hello . Thanks for the answer . I looked at various information on the Internet, someone makes a change to grub, somewhere it is written that this is a bug, someone writes that this is due to the fact that dirt gets into the mouse or keyboard. But I did not find a clear answer, as is usually the case. | 19:01 |
tom[m]12 | In my case it's a regular command something like this | 19:01 |
tom[m]12 | `qemu-system-x86_64 -hda ....` | 19:01 |
tom[m]12 | https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/qemu-devel/2020-09/msg09792.html | 19:03 |
rwp | tom[m]12, I think it likely that this problem would be the same on all Linux distributions and is not Devuan specific. I think it is how qemu is invoked. You will probably need qemu specific help. | 21:04 |
